Out July 31 on the Love + Truth, Some Days Are Darker’s “Take Me Anywhere” is all about forbidden love. “Take Me Anywhere’ explores the thrill of forbidden love,” says Lear Mason. “We don’t get to choose who we fall in love with, and there’s a danger in that. How far are you willing to go?”
The solo endeavor of singer/songwriter Lear Mason, Some Days Are Darker illustrates a rich soundscape colored by hues of love, loss, and rebirth, an era-ambiguous amalgamation of goth-rock gloom and modern-day crooner.
The single “Take Me Anywhere” hinges on an ominous riff and his gruff baritone before the heart-wrenching crescendo, “She asked me if I love her, I lied and said, ‘No.’”
“When love goes away, you don’t expect to find it again—and then you do,” he says. “Lyrically, the song is diving back into being so wildly in love with someone and exploring fantasy and desire.”
